A backyard should work for you - not just sit there. That's what we had in mind with this outdoor living space in the Fresno area. The goal was simple: give this homeowner a yard that functions like an extra room. Somewhere to have dinner, cook outside, and actually enjoy the space without a lot of fuss.

The patio itself is a clean, large-format tile layout that gives the whole area a solid, polished foundation. It connects everything - the dining area, the outdoor kitchen, and the lush garden beyond. Getting the patio right is the most important step in any outdoor living build. If that base isn't level, properly graded, and built to last, nothing else works the way it should.

The outdoor kitchen is built into a stacked-stone block structure with a wood-look panel finish. It houses a full-size grill with storage underneath - exactly the kind of setup you'd actually use on a regular night, not just for special occasions. Right next to it, a raised planter wall with built-in accent lighting separates the kitchen zone from the garden beds, adding both structure and atmosphere as the sun goes down.

Beyond the patio, artificial turf runs through the middle of the yard, bordered by natural stone edging and surrounded by established plantings - roses, palms, ferns, bougainvillea. It's low-maintenance without feeling sterile. The whole space has layers to it, and that's what makes it feel like it belongs to the house rather than just being dropped in the yard.

Whether you're in Fresno or Clovis and you've been thinking about upgrading your backyard, this is the kind of result we aim for on every job - a space that's comfortable, well-built, and something you'll actually use every day.
